The home of Yuxcil Martínez, a Sidor worker, was raided by officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) on the evening of Wednesday, June 14. This was denounced by the union leader Carlos Ramírez Delgado.
In interview with Radio Faith and Joy, Ramírez Delgado denounced: “Last night (Wednesday) there was a Sebin commission to break into the house of compañero Yuxcil Martínez to take him into custody and three compañeros who are from here in Guayana were taken to Caracas and held in El Rodeo.”
The trade unionist denounced this Thursday, June 15, the persecution sustained against Sidor workers for exercising their right to protest.
In that sense, he stated:We are not asking for anything from the other world. We are simply saying: ‘comply with what is in the law’. We have a Government that does not comply with the Labor Law, Collective Contracts and that does not comply with the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela”.
The worker reiterated that at trade unionists arrested Recently, Juan Cabrera, Daniel Romero and Leandro Azócar, have been accused of incitement to hatred, conspiracy and criminal association.
“Yes, they have an association, but it is not to commit crimes. Leandro Azócar is the Secretary of Complaints of the Steel Industry and its Similars (Sutiss) and then they take him down because he is demanding the rights of workers”, said the Sidor unionist.
On June 14, workers in Caracas and Ciudad Guayana, in Bolívar, protested to demand the immediate release of trade unionists Leonardo Azócar and Daniel Romero, arbitrarily detained on the night of Sunday the 11th for having led a demonstration.
In Bolívar, workers from basic companies went to the gates of Sidor to demand the release of their colleagues and shouted at the officials of the National Armed Forces (FAN) stationed inside the facilities, forming a picket line with their riot squad, that they were not attack civilians.
