Lawyer Mario Aquino, assistant assigned to the Presidency of the Caracas Criminal Judicial Circuit, was captured for allegedly having favored the release of Oswaldo José Cheremos Carrasquel (Pelón Cheremos), cataloged as one of the members of the criminal organization plain trainaccording to legal sources.
Aquino would be held in the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin). This lawyer and Loreannys Mejías, supposedly envoy of the National Assembly (AN), would have received from Cheremos the sum of 240 thousand dollars (cash and cars) in exchange for their release.
Initially, Cheremos allegedly gave those people $120,000 in cash, a Jac pickup valued at $25,000, and a Fortuner that cost $60,000. Subsequently, the subject delivered $35,000 in cash.
Cheremos was captured in October last year in Zaraza (Guárico) and accused of terrorism and illegal trafficking of weapons of war. And on January 9, he was released on presentation as ordered by the 4th Anti-Terrorist Court in charge of José Maxcimino Márquez García.
Apparently, the instruction to release Cheremos was given by Mario Aquino through a WhatsApp message that he sent to Judge Márquez where he told him to order the trial released “because the National Assembly had requested it so.”
On Tuesday, February 7, the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice requested information from the Criminal Judicial Circuit of Caracas on this measure. Upon learning the details of the incident, the Chamber suggested that this measure be reversed because it was a person who was accused of serious crimes and who was allegedly providing weapons of war to the Tren del Llano.
Last Wednesday, when Cheremos appeared at the 4th Anti-Terrorist Court, he was deprived of liberty again. That day, agents of the Bolivarian National Police demanded that he hand over all his personal belongings, among which was a document (power of attorney) through which Cheremos authorized Loreannys Mariana Mejías Díaz to remove a van from the National Office Against Organized Crime, he explained. the informant.
The Sebin investigates other people to clarify the fact.
