Deputy Sebastián Valdomir, of the Popular Participation Movement (MPP), was unanimously chosen as president of the Chamber of Deputies for the first year of the 2025 legislature. Throughout his career, Valdomir has been recognized for his transparency, honesty and responsibility, qualities that have made him a reference within the parliamentary scope. On this occasion, his choice is given in a special context, since in 2025 the 100 years of the creation of the Legislative Palace and the 40 years of the democratic restoration in Uruguay are commemorated.
Valdomir obtained 98 votes from the 99 present in the session, being his own vote for Deputy Cecilia Cairo. With this election, the legislator is consolidated as a key figure for the coming years of Parliament.
