The alternate departmental councilor Sebastián Menéndez has been a member of the Transit and Transportation commission of the Departmental Board since this year. Among other topics, he raised concerns and needs in Nueva Palmira, such as: signage, road painting at the entrance to Punta Gorda, lighting and roundabout at the port.
Substitute for councilor Julio Basanta, the Palmyra nationalist was summoned on March 4 of this year to be part of the traffic commission in the departmental legislature, with the commitment to spend no less than a year in that paid work.
“The most important role of the councilor is to comply with society. So, when they called me, I accepted to comply with what the people asked for, to receive what they deserve and to comply with Nueva Palmira.”
He has requested new signage throughout the city, “that a survey be done and what is necessary be placed: painting of the entrance road to Punta Gorda from Route 21 and spotlights at the entrance to the street (De las Flores) that goes to Punta Gorda from the new heavy traffic detour.”
Another issue that he complained about was the traffic light (flasher) in front of School 113 “because it does not work and a roundabout in front of the port gate.”
“I am part of a group of councilors, we are seven colleagues: two men and five women, there are some from the Frente Amplio and the National Party and we get along well,” Menéndez highlighted.
