From the early hours of this Tuesday, the search and rescue work of two occupants of a crashed aircraft resumed this Monday, in the Punta Chame area.
Air operations were resumed during the morning, while maritime operations were maintained during the night of Monday and part of this morning in the area of the accident, said the Civil Aviation Authority.
In a statement issued at noon on Tuesday, the entity specified that the work is carried out by air, sea and land, covering the Punta Chame area and following the path that the aircraft would have taken, with US registration N5535J.
The search block is made up of the joint search and rescue task force of the Civil Aeronautical Authority, the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) and the Panama Fire Department. There are two aircraft and 50 people involved in the operation.
After 6:00 pm on Tuesday, the institution announced on its Twitter account that the air search and rescue work in the Punta Chame area was suspended.
They added that the search by sea will continue throughout the night and early morning, and once there is sunlight again, the search by air will be reactivated this Wednesday.
It should be remembered that three other people, who were also traveling in the Cherokee 6 aircraft, were rescued alive on Monday afternoon, and were later transferred to a medical center, where they continue to receive care.
Four of the occupants of the plane, which had a flight plan from Contadora Island to Chame and which presented mechanical failures, are Americans.
The people who are missing are 57 and 70 years old, reported Gustavo Pérez Morales, general director of the Civil Aeronautical Authority.
