Seal agricultural alliance between Colombia and Venezuela

At the installation of the Colombian-Venezuelan Government, Trade Union and Business Meeting, the Minister of Agriculture, Cecilia López Montaño stated that the agricultural sectors of the two countries are ready to work together.

With figures from Ministry of Agriculture, Colombia exported to Venezuela US$149 million in agricultural products, between January and October 2022, which represented an increase of 118% compared to the same period of 2021 (US$68.6 million). Being palm oil, sugar and cocoa preparations the main products that are currently exported to the neighboring country.

According to the Minister, “The agricultural sector is ready, Colombian policies are going to find common ground with their peers in Venezuela, not only with the State, but also with the private sector.”

For his part, the Venezuelan Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Alfredo Castro Soteldo, affirmed: “The technical table that has developed the most work and that has met most frequently is that of animal and plant health. The idea is to formalize the practices that are being implemented”.
