The Santo Domingo West Mayor’s Office and the companies of the Haina Logistics Corridor (CLH) inaugurated the Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Cuello Fire Station, an initiative that will help the residents of KM 13 and surrounding areas in case of emergencies.
After ten months of construction, the comfortable facilities of the brigade were delivered to the Santo Domingo Oeste Fire Department with all the necessary furniture for its operation.
The station was built near the toll booth of the Sánchez highway, with an investment of eight million pesos that were donated by the CLH companies, among them: HIT Puerto Río Haina, Antillean Dominicana, Alta Copa, Caribetrans, DPH, Dragados del Caribe, ET Heinsen, Equiport, Falcondo, Fersan, Global Storage, Haina Bonded Warehouse, Interquimica SA, Levapán, Mardom, Rannik, Rodemsa, Seadom and Schad.
The new station will have 24 firefighters on duty specialized in rescue and handling of hazardous materials to assist in an adequate and comprehensive manner while reducing the response time to emergencies. It will provide assistance to sectors: 12 and 13 of Haina, El Café, Puerto Río Haina, Los Kilómetros and a large part of the sectors of the municipality of Haina, San Cristóbal province.
“This station was a necessity for the sectors and companies located in the vicinity of the eastern part of the Port of Haina and we are already making it a reality to face any contingency that occurs in the area,” he explained, Jose AndujarMayor Santo Domingo West.
Erik Alma, CEO of HIT Puerto Río Haina spoke on behalf of the Haina Logistics Corridor companies and expressed the importance of contributing to initiatives that contribute to the well-being and safety of the population.
The community leaders present at the inauguration ceremony and the members of the West Santo Domingo Fire Department thanked the delivery of the modern station, which represents a great step to prevent accidents and expand the coverage of services of this type.
The authorities and councilors of the Santo Domingo Oeste Mayor’s Office, representatives of the CLH companies, the Santo Domingo Oeste Fire Department and citizens of the KM 13 community were present at the opening ceremony.
Also present were the senator of the province Antonio Taveras, the deputies of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) Ignacio Aracena, Luis Sánchez, Elias Báez and Leivy Bautista, of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) Ana María Peña, of the People’s Force (FP) Aquilino Serrata (Son) and Miguel Bogart.
