Screams and despair, the harsh images of the moment the fire devastated a community in Beni

The mayor of Riberalta, Ciriaco Rodríguez, was there, as was a team of eight firefighters, as well as some community members, but all efforts were in vain. TOauthorities and farmers witnessed how the flames got out of control and consumed more than twenty homes in the New Generation community.

In the video, which is already circulating on social networks, you can see how community members try to cool the ceilings and walls of their homes with water, a few meters from where the flames burn high above. The slightest spark and the desperation of the living grew.

With the clock against and the heat of the fire a few meters away, everyone took out their belongings, which they were actually able to take out and save.

While trying to put out a house, sparks jumped to other homes, that in a matter of seconds burned. The dry motacú leaf roofs crackled with the fire, like the flames of the forest that mercilessly attacked the terrified inhabitants.

“Everything happened in a matter of seconds, the strong winds caused the fire to get out of control and destroy everything in its path. It seemed like a nightmare,” lamented Mayor Rodríguez.

This Friday morning, the Minister of Public Works, Édgar Montaño assured that the national government will be in charge of the reconstruction of these 22 homes that burned in Beni and another 34 that have been consumed in Santa Cruz, a few days ago. .
