Scrapping of a ship abandoned by Zorrilla, and auction of another

Scrapping of a ship abandoned by Zorrilla, and auction of another

The vice president of the ANP, Captain (r) Daniel Loureiro, announced that soon “one of the pontoons that has been here in the port of Nueva Palmira for a long time will be scrapped” (it was owned by Juan José Zorrilla of the company Santa Maria).

It has been occupying the area of the National Ports Administration (ANP) of Nueva Palmira for more than 10 years and since its owner did not act, it will be the public body that will be in charge of the scrapping at its own expense.

Zorrilla and his “floating team”

For the owner of the ‘Santa María’ company, José José Zorrilla, that grayish, rusty structure, with its bow stuck in the sand, is a “floating piece of equipment.” This is how it is registered. It does not appear as a ship although no matter how you look at it it is a ship, and Zorrilla refused to remove the ship, which is why the ANP acted.

Auction

Louriero also informed EL ECO that another boat that is abandoned here is going up for auction.” The two boats are moored at the connecting dock towards the south dock.
