After the Peruvian government offered safe conduct to the family of Pedro Castillo -not including Yenifer Paredes- within the framework of the Caracas Convention on Diplomatic Asylum of 1954; Lilia Paredes together with the ambassador in Lima, Pablo Monroy, traveled to Mexico.

In exclusive images of América Noticias shared by some passengers, an indignant woman is heard yelling at her: “Scoundrel, thief’s wife!”, when Castillo’s wife passed through airport controls.

Another passenger was annoyed and surprised by the police custody of Lilia Paredes, although the safe-conduct is granted: “guarded by the Peruvian police, incredible, the wife of Pedro Castillo go away”.

Before boarding the plane, Pablo Monroy carries little Alondra, who would have been exhausted at that late night. In other images, Lilia is seen getting comfortable inside the plane, always with the guidance of Mexican workers. That was how the coup plotter’s family left the country.

PERSONA NON GRATA

Along with the granting of the safe-conduct, the government decided to declare the Mexican ambassador in Peru, Pablo Monroy, persona non grata, and granted him 72 hours to leave our country.

Around 11:00 pm, Monroy left his residence along with a large entourage and, under heavy guard, entered the Jorge Chávez airport to board a commercial flight.

The measure was taken as a result of constant statements by high-ranking Mexican authorities, such as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador himself, “that constitute interference in our internal affairs.”

In the morning, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard had confirmed that Castillo’s family was taking refuge in their embassy in Peru, located in the San Isidro district.
