Lightning and volcanoes are featured among the topics of Science is Everything Unprecedented, which airs this Saturday (26), at 9:30 am, on TV Brazil. In a journey through the scientific and technological universe, the production brings information and news in the area through a partnership between the public broadcaster and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
In this episode, the program talks about lightning, electrical discharges of great intensity that occur in the atmosphere, connecting the ground and storm clouds. The edition explains why Brazil is a world champion in the incidence of this phenomenon and is on the way to reaching an annual average of 100 million lightning strikes.
The attraction also investigates the global impacts of the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai volcano in Tonga, Oceania, which took place in January this year. According to NASA, the US space agency, the explosion was so violent that it surpassed the power of an atomic bomb.
Also among the topics of Saturday’s Science is All are the astronomical discoveries of 2022. The year has barely begun and some space events are already shaking the scientific community.
And in the box “Did you know?”, the program explains why the month of February has fewer days than the others.
