Schoolchildren go into recess until July 15

Students today have their last day of classes before entering the school recess that in the country has been set from July 4 to 15, so They will return to the classrooms on Monday 18.

The Vice Minister of Regular Education, Bartolomé Puma, reported that in the pedagogical break period teachers have to refrain from giving homework to students and parents should take advantage of this time to take their children to the vaccination centers, so that everyone is protected when they return to the classroom.

The Minister of Education, Edgar Pary, also warned of the prohibition of giving homework to schoolchildren, so that teachers who do so will be sanctioned. “The start of the pedagogical break for July 4 is ratified throughout the education system,” Pary said.

For his part, the head of the Departmental Directorate of Education (DDE), Eliseo Hayllani, remarked that in the next two weeks the students will be in a pedagogical break, which means that teachers should not give homework. “These two weeks will allow a change of activities that can be recreational, sports, artistic or cultural,” he emphasized.

He also insisted that it is important to take care of one’s health, which is why asked parents to take their children to vaccination to avoid complications and maintain biosecurity measures.

Huayllani indicated that to date ten educational units pass virtual classes due to covid infections.

For his part, the deputy director of Regular Education, José Luis Balderrama, added that of the 3,078 educational units in the department, 22 are in virtuality. Some suspended only in the courses where positive cases were registered and others in the entire establishment.

There are 519 students, 122 teachers and 17 administrators who have tested positive for covid in the last report received by the DDE.

Activities

In the pedagogical break also Options are opened so that students can carry out other recreational activities.

The Governorate launched a program for children during these holidays that will allow them to strengthen their care for nature.

The Departmental Secretariat of the Environment promotes the care of the planet in children between 8 and 12 years old so that they become guardians of nature, through EcoGuarda. The activities will take place from July 4 to 8, from 8:00 to 12:30.

Luis Patiño, coordinator of the Environmental Education Program, explained that the activities that will take place in EcoGuarda will take place in different environments of the Environmental Education Center (CEA).

“There will be guided tours on the ecological trail, activities in orchards and forest nurseries, with environmental games, talks, videos and active teaching methodologies. Also, children will learn about biodiversity, protected areas, climate change, forests and water, I enter other subjects”, indicated Patiño.
