The Ministry of Education (Minedu) made changes to the provisions and issued others on the return to face-to-face or blended learning, after two years of virtual teaching due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Among the series of measures to avoid massive contagion during the return to the classroom, coordination is already in place to carry out vaccination campaigns in educational institutions.
through the Ministerial Resolution 108-2022-MINEDUpublished today in El Peruano, letter g) is added in numeral 10.2 and letter l) in numeral 10.3, which indicates that the regional education directorates (DRE), regional education management offices (GRE) and the local educational management units (UGEL) will coordinate with the general health directorates (Diresa) for the student inoculation.

g) Coordinate with the respective DIRESAS, the conducting vaccination campaigns in the IIEE of its jurisdiction, aimed at the educational community, prioritizing the vaccination of girls, boys, adolescents, with the authorization of one of the parents, guardian or family member responsible for ensuring the care of the minor, as appropriate, and the staff of the educational institution.”

l) Promote before the DRE/GRE the coordination with the respective DIRESAS, the conducting vaccination campaigns in the IIEE of its jurisdiction, aimed at the educational community, prioritizing the vaccination of girls, boys, adolescents, with the authorization of one of the parents, guardian or family member responsible for ensuring the care of the minor, as appropriate, and the staff of the educational institution.”
As it is public, the director of Immunizations of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Maria Elena Martinezinformed the public that the Vaccination against COVID-19 will not be mandatory for schoolchildren to return to face-to-face classes.
Meanwhile, last weekend, the Minister of Education, Rosendo Sernastated that the return to classes of children and adolescents in the country will not be conditioned to anything, all will return to school whether or not they have been vaccinated against the COVID-19.
“There is no condition for them to go back to school. Children will return to school without any restrictions, whether or not they are vaccinated they will enter school”he detailed.
the owner of the minedu made it clear that the necessary efforts will be made to bring the vaccination process closer to schools. “What is going to happen is that the school is going to become a vaccination center. Students with the authorization of their parents are going to be vaccinated in each educational institution and I know that there we are going to advance much faster”he underlined.
