Santo Domingo. – The National System of Student Transportation (TRAE) has represented a economic relief for thousands of Dominican families, according to the head of the entity, Onesimo Gonzalezby highlighting that since its launch it has generated 12 billion pesos in savings.
Likewise, the official pointed out that since the beginning of the program in January 2023until November 2025, TRAE units have carried out 56.7 million trips throughout the national territory, which makes it one of the most popular student transportation systems. active and efficient of the region.
“We have generated 56.7 million safe trips, representing family savings of more than RD$12,000 million. This shows the real impact of this initiative in the Dominican household economy,” said González.
The also executive vice president of the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA), stressed that the project not only benefits students and their parentsbut has also contributed significantly to the job creation.
In that sense, he highlighted that currently the system has created more than 5,200 direct jobspositively impacting thousands of homes. These jobs include drivers, monitors, technical staffoperational and administrative that are part of the national structure of the program.

González also assured that the TRAE has been consolidated as a student transportation model safe and reliable, with modern units, strict protocols and routes designed to ensure that students arrive safely. punctual and protected to their educational centers.
Likewise, he reiterated the commitment to continue strengthening the system, expanding routes and increasing the bus fleet, with the aim of continuing to support the family economy and improve the mobility conditions of thousands of students at the national level.
