School temporarily closed in Pesé, Herrera, due to 50 positive cases of Covid-19

A cluster of positive cases of Covid-19 is registered at the José Octavio Huertas Educational Center (JOHA), in Pesé, Herrera province. The infections reach 25 students of different levels, 10 educators and four administrative officials, so classes were temporarily suspended

Juliana Morales, district director of the Ministry of Health, in Pesé, said that this Thursday, April 28, they will carry out a deep cleaning throughout the campus, in addition to fogging.

“There are approximately 36 active cases among them professors, administrators and students. We have had a slight increase in cases over the weekend, already having 50 active cases, so the traceability of each case was carried out and it is recommended that the school close today,” he said.

The director of the school, Rita Chiriboga, assured that upon detecting this increase in cases, they called the Minsa Capsi de Pesé, as established in the manual of the Ministry of Education, and by mutual agreement they decided to suspend classes to carry out deep cleaning, normalize the institution, and return to classes on Tuesday, May 3.

For her part, the National Director of Environmental Education, Carmen Aparicio, emphasized that all the biosafety measures and protocols that are established in response to the detection of positive cases of COVID-19 have been complied with.

The teacher added that those who test positive must comply with everything that the Ministry of Health has established. The vaccination of teaching staff and students -from 11 to 18 years old- has reached between 90% and 95%, including its officials.
