Scandalous refereeing in the match between Argentina and Morocco

An unusual event occurred at the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games when the referee made the players from Argentina and Morocco return to the field almost two hours later to finish the match,

The referee disallowed Argentina’s equaliser after reviewing the VAR two hours later, after stopping the match due to pitch invasion and objects being thrown onto the field and it seemed that the game was tied at 2-2. But the referee informed the players that the game had not ended and that he had to review the play.

When the teams returned to the field, the play was reviewed by the VAR, annulling the goal scored by Medina at 90+16′ and adding three more minutes to the match. A game that started at 8 in the morning ended after noon, Panama time.

Before all this, there had already been a controversy over the 15 minutes of extra time that the referee had given at the end of the regular 90 minutes.

Social media has been flooded with comments about the referees’ actions in this match, which they describe as scandalous.
