Scams: they pose as firefighters and offer dollars at convenient prices

The National Directorate of Firefighters reported that it received complaints of people being scammed through WhatsApp messages in Montevideo and Maldonadowhose cases are being investigated by the police.

The scammers use a profile photo of a firefighter and offer dollars for a convenient price, according to the Maldonado Police Headquarters in a statement Thursday. Then, they ask the victim to deposit the money to a card number.

They even send the photo of an identity document with the photo of an official, who is currently in commission, adds the text.

The National Directorate of Firefighters recalled that in case of receiving such a message, the person can make the complaint by contacting the 911 emergency service, going to the nearest sectional or through the application of the Ministry of the Interior.
