In the last hours, the Ministry of the Interior of Colombia has issued an alert about document falsification related to the purchase and sale of land. Through a statement that he extended on social networks, He asked citizens to be vigilant and to report suspicious requests.
“It is not true that officials from the Ministry of the Interior have the power to visit lots and evaluate their alleged purchase by the national government. “Any procedure of this type must be carried out with authorized entities, such as the National Land Agency (ANT), who is in charge of purchasing the lots that are needed to advance the Agrarian Reform.”highlights the text published by the Ministry.
“No official or contractor of this entity is authorized to request, process or sign promises for the sale of land, lots and real estate in any department of the country”they conclude.

What is the procedure for citizens to fall for the scam?
Scammers pose as Ministry employees and offer secure purchases of lots. “Such purchase and sale promises are false and are not linked in any way to this entity”the statement states.
According to the registered complaints, the initial scam consists of requesting mandatory payment for a topographical study of the land to continue advancing in a business that is non-existent and illicit.
The warning has become especially relevant in towns such as Arboledas, where impersonation attempts have been identified.
