The signing of Iker Muniain by San Lorenzo continues to generate great interest in Argentine football. Lionel Scaloni, the current coach of the Albiceleste, had to answer a question yesterday in a press conference regarding the former Athletic captain and his arrival at the club.
“I don’t know if his signing is surprising, but Muniain is a player who is still in good form, he is current, he can give a lot to San Lorenzo,” said Scaloni.
The coach of the current world champion team also stressed that “in the years he has played in Spain he has always been a different player. From what I understand, he is passionate about Argentine football. I hope he does well so that he can open doors for other kids who want to come, so that not only we go there but they come here as well. It would be good if he does well and has a good image of our football, for now I am grateful that he has come to our football because he is still relevant.”
Muniain, awaiting his official presentation today as a San Lorenzo player, made it clear in a statement at the end of his first solo training session at Boedo that “I come here to work, to find my best level and version. Finding that level, I can help my teammates in everything I can. Both on the field, and in the locker room with all the teammates. The objective is always to win. When you win, the fans enjoy it. That is the way, to prepare to win.”
