Homage
Created in 2019, the Carolina Bori Ciência & Mulher Award is a tribute from the SBPC to outstanding Brazilian scientists and future Brazilian scientists of notorious talent, named after its first female president, Carolina Martuscelli Bori. The SBPC – which has already had three women presidents and today most of the board is female – created the award because it believes that honoring Brazilian scientists and encouraging girls to be interested in this universe is a remarkable action in its historical trajectory.
The awards ceremony takes place annually alternating two categories – “Women Scientists” and “Girls in Science” – during the Women and Girls in Science Symposium, to be held on February 11 (or later) in celebration of International Women’s Day. and Girls in Science, established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
