The president of the bicameral commission empowered to study the domain extinction law, Pedro Catrain, affirmed that the signatures that must be sought in order to approve the initiative are those of the congressmen and not of the population.
The legislator spoke in reaction to his counterpart Antonio Taveras, who had announced that from this new legislature he will promote the aforementioned project through the campaign “let’s recover what was stolen” to get a million signatures of support.
Catrain believes that there are favorable conditions to get the regulations approved in this legislature. For this, according to what he highlighted, he has the support of President Luis Abinader; the support of the presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, Eduardo Estrella and Alfredo Pacheco; as well as the parties of the Dominican Liberation (PLD) and Fuerza del Pueblo (FP).
The commission is scheduled to meet next Thursday, March 10 at 9:00 a.m. and Friday the 11th.
