Sauri: in the PRI the priority is to specify joint candidacies with the PAN and the PRD

He explained that he is awaiting the response of the Partisan Justice Commission on the challenge he filed against the decision of alito to extend his administration until 2024, an appeal that was also filed by Pedro Joaquín Coldwell and senators Claudia Ruiz Massieu and Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong. Most likely, they will give us a stick, but when they do, we go directly to the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), which will have to decide if the statutory reforms are valid or violated the basic documents.

Future processes are of great importance

In interview with the day, Sauri Riancho, who in the year 2000 as president of the PRI faced the loss of the Presidency of the Republic by the until then hegemonic party, warns that now, more than 20 years later, the situation is difficult and complicated.

With an extensive political and legislative career, Sauri Riancho explained that he filed an appeal with the National Commission for Party Justice, of the National Executive Committee (CEN) of the PRI against the call to the extraordinary session of the National Political Council of his party, which it was held on December 19 and in which changes were made that allow Moreno Cárdenas and his committee to stay practically until 2024, despite the fact that his term expires on August 19 of this year.

In fact, he specified that what was done was to annex article 83 section 37 of the statutes, which had been reformed in July 2020, to then empower the Political Council to provide an extension to the statutory period of the leadership, in cases where the renewal concurs with an electoral process or within the three following months.

It was modified again because the electoral reform of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador covered the beginning of the elections from September to November and before that, alito changed the term from three months to four and a half to give him the times.

He explained that he has been very attentive, since if that commission fails against him, he will go to the TEPJF. He specified that if the response takes too long or they try to freeze the challenge, he will also go to that court. It is a dispute that is beginning and for me and for the PRI members in general, it is completely new territory.but it will continue because Moreno Cárdenas and his committee must leave the leadership in August of this year.

I am not naive, I know that the current national leadership has a very great control of the partisan apparatus, but the relief must be in the times that our basic documents mark.
