What should have been an afternoon of laughter ended in pain. A child suffered the partial mutilation of two fingers while playing on one of the mechanical games at the children’s park of the Esperanza de Vida Association in the district of Pangoa, in the province of Satipo. The accident occurred in a space that should guarantee fun and safety for minors.
According to witnesses, the minor was trapped in one of the metal structures of the game, presumably due to the poor state of conservation. Neighbors in the area and his parents themselves reacted immediately and helped him to transfer him to a health center, where he received emergency medical attention.
Parents and residents denounced the lack of maintenance on the amusement rides, which were rusty and had deteriorated parts, a situation that – they claim – had already been noticed without corrective measures being adopted.
“This case raises the alarm about the real state of our recreational spaces, which should be safe places for our children and not scenes of tragedies,” said outraged neighbors who arrived after the accident.
