Sao Tome and Principe join the Agroalba project

The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, reported that Sao Tome and Principe, a country on the African continent, has officially joined the Agroalba project, by signing a memorandum of understanding, which establishes the bases for strategic cooperation between peoples. of both nations.

Gil, on his Instagram account, thanked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of Sao Tome and Principe, Abel Da Silva Bom Jesús, for his words and visit to our country to consolidate this important agreement.

“Together we will work towards food sovereignty and sustainable development, strengthening our ties and building a prosperous future,” he noted.

The third alliance of the Agroalba Project

Likewise, in the portal of the Ministry of Industries and National Productionit is indicated that the AgroAlba Project continues to add strategic investments to promote sovereignty and agri-food development between brother peoples.

On this occasion, Sao Tome and Principe became the third alliance that Venezuela has signed within the framework of this initiative that seeks to materialize sustainable economic integration, within a shared geopolitical vision of solidarity and complementarity.

From the ALBA headquarters in Caracas, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, and the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Abel da Silva Bom Jesus, signed the “Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Cooperation in Various Areas of Agricultural and Livestock Interest.”

The event was attended by the Minister of Industries and National Production and president of the International Center for Productive Investment (CIIP), Alex Saab; the Secretary General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza; and the Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, Menry Fernández.

Foreign Minister Yván Gil stated that this Memorandum seeks to strengthen relations between Sao Tome and Venezuela. Likewise, it also adds and contributes to the strengthening of relations between Africa and South American countries.

For his part, Minister Abel da Silva Bom Jesus assured that the alliance with AgroAlba “will transform Santo Tomé. We are a small country, but well positioned and we have a lot to learn from you. This is a dream, to find a path that does not give us fish, but rather teaches us how to fish. “We feel at home and we leave with the responsibility of preparing to return.”
