According to the Municipal Health Department, confirmed cases of dengue in the city fell 29.2% this year. Until Epidemiological Week 15 of 2021 – a period that covers January to mid-April – there were 3,511 occurrences. Until the same epidemiological week of 2022, there were 2,485 cases. In the whole of last year and until mid-April this year, the department did not record any deaths from dengue in the city.

The city hall points out that the objective of the action is to carry out “the larval control with the use of biological larvicide, transmission blocks, manual elimination of breeding sites, nebulization of insecticides with vehicular and costal ultra-low volume (UBV) nebulization machines and fulfillment of requests” .

The Health Department asks the population to collaborate, stay alert and adopt measures to prevent the formation of points of clean stagnant water, whether indoors, in the backyard or with the exposure of objects that can contribute to the proliferation of mosquitoes.

The task force is headed by the Health Surveillance Coordination and the Zoonoses Surveillance Division. All 28 Health Surveillance Units participate.

According to the agency, in 2021, 2.7 million house-to-house actions were carried out. In 2022, so far, almost 927 thousand actions were carried out, with more than 469 thousand visits to homes.
