Consumer rights
Procon-SP reported that it has reinforced its service in the city of São Paulo, especially for those experiencing power outages. From Monday (21) to Friday (25), from 9 am to 3 pm, consumers in São Paulo will be able to register complaints at in-person points set up in the sub-prefectures of Capela do Socorro, Cidade Ademar, Parelheiros and Santo Amaro.
There is no need to schedule an appointment, and the consumer will need to bring a monthly electricity bill to register the complaint.
According to Procon-SP, the points were installed in the southern region of the city as it was most impacted by the interruption in supply since the storm on the 11th.
Among consumers’ rights, the agency highlights the right to compensation for material damage caused by a lack of electricity, such as lost food or medicine and damaged electrical appliances. Furthermore, it is the company’s duty to provide information in a clear and transparent manner about the resumption of services and also about what the consumer should do to have the amounts reimbursed.
