After two years without being able to be held because of the covid-19 pandemic, the largest bakery fair in Latin America and one of the largest in the world was again held in Brazil: Fipan. The event, which is promoted by the São Paulo Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association and Union (Sampapão), opened on Tuesday (19) and runs until Friday (22) at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo.São Paulo promotes largest bakery fair in Latin America

The president of Sampapão, Rui Gonçalves, estimated at R$ 1 billion the deals that could be closed at this year’s fair. “We will have 350 exhibitors with more than 400 brands and many products that emerged from family businesses, in addition to launches by large consumer-oriented companies, with greater hygiene and safety in consumption”, informed Gonçalves.

São Paulo is the state that has the largest number of bakeries in Brazil. According to the Brazilian Association of the Bakery and Confectionery Industry (Abip), there are currently 14,040 bakeries in the state, which together have a turnover of around R$ 30 billion.

Among the highlights of this edition of Fipan is the Arena do Pão, with the election of the best baker in Brazil. Contestants must present eight types of bread, and a jury will evaluate the variety of recipes, presentation, flavor and regularity of the breads.

The fair also promotes the Confeiteiro Arena, which will offer more than 50 free live classes. To participate, the interested party does not need to register in advance: registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
