At the opening, actress and singer Zezé Motta read a letter to Brazilian arts from yesterday, today and tomorrow. Then, Funarte president Maria Marighella spoke about the foundation’s commitment to promoting spaces for debate and reflection. “This seminar is part of a second cycle in Funarte’s work towards implementing the National Arts Policy,” said Maria. According to her, the people who have a seat are arts workers in all their diversity: artists, educators, managers, technicians, researchers, curators and communicators.

Acting Minister of Culture Márcio Tavares, who represented Minister Margareth Menezes, highlighted the relationship between the actions of the department and the policy under development. “We are ensuring the regulation of the National Culture System, which is a federative pact. It is the SUS of Culture becoming material and ensuring that there is co-responsibility between states, municipalities and the Union in the management of cultural policies.”

Today, the second day of the event, three panels discussed international cooperation, visibility and representation in the sector. The issue of territoriality was also addressed and will be revisited in the panels on Thursday, the third day of the seminar, which is the first action of the Funarte Research and Reflection Program.
