After passing through Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, the sixth edition of Mirada – Ibero-American Festival of Performing Arts arrives today (14) in São Paulo, returning to the face-to-face format. Until the 24th of September, the event held by Sesc São Paulo presents its theatrical program to the São Paulo public.
In São Paulo, ten international shows will be presented: Reminiscence and DRAGON (Chile), strait / strait (Portugal/Chile co-production), Rehearsal for a Cartography (Portugal), La Luna in the Amazon (Colombia), Hamlet (Peru), Amazonas Theater (Spain), WHEN PASSES ABOUT MY TOMB (Uruguay), Cosmos and dark dawn (Portugal).
The plays will be staged at the 24 de Maio, Belenzinho, Bom Retiro, Consolação, Pinheiros, Pompeia, Santana and Vila Mariana do Sesc units and address, among other topics, the symptoms of colonization and migratory processes. In this approach, for example, strait / straitwhere artists from the companies Teatro Experimental do Porto (Portugal) and Teatro La Maria (Chile) revisit the trajectory of the navigator Fernão de Magalhães (1480-1521) in a critical and satirical way.
The Colombian group Mapa Teatro starts from a 2019 news article, about the existence of voluntarily isolated indigenous communities in the Colombian Amazon, to talk about resistance in the play La Luna in El Amazonas.
Another highlight is the piece Hamletwhich crosses Shakespeare’s text with the lives of eight actors with Down Syndrome.
Since the 9th of September, the festival is being presented in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. Until next Sunday (18), the event will show 36 shows of multiple languages in theatre, dance, performance and street theater at the Sesc unit in Santos, in addition to public spaces, theaters and historic buildings in the city.
