São Paulo has 42,000 people in an act against PEC of Armage and Amnesty

About 42,400 people gathered on Sunday (21) at Avenida Paulista, central São Paulo, to protest the amnesty to the convicts for attempted coup and the so -called PEC of Armage, which provides for the demand for authorization from Congress to criminally prosecute deputies and senators. The public estimate is from the political debate monitor in the digital environment, linked to USP (University of São Paulo).São Paulo has 42,000 people in an act against PEC of Armage and Amnesty

In all, 33 cities had acts, including all capitals. With criticism of the National Congress, protesters demanded the arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro. He is already sentenced to 27 years in prison for attempted coup, criminal organization, among other crimes.

Called by the fronts without fear and popular Brazil, linked to PSOL and PT, the demonstrations had the presence of unions, student groups, artists and social movements, such as the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) and the Movement of Workers without Ceiling (MTST), as well as other left and center-left parties.

Reginaldo Cordeiro de Santos Júnior is a university professor in the Social Work course and was in Paulista. It does not live in São Paulo, but took advantage that he had an appointment in the city and anticipated the coming especially to participate in the demonstration.

“We are here in the struggle for democracy against the PEC of Armage, in the fight against all the setback of what was achieved in 1988. This is very important for youth to understand everything we managed to conquer in 1988 with the Federal Constitution. We need to bring out all this problem that is being put in the Brazilian Congress,” he said.

Professor retired by the State of São Paulo, Miriam Abramo fears the return of dictatorship in Brazil and believes that the armor PEC can be a shortening of the way for the country to relive the period.

“I’m here because I’m 75 and I lived the time when you had no rights to anything. I voted for the first time to President of the Republic when I was 40 years old and I don’t want this youth expects to be 40 years old to choose your president again,” said the teacher.

Martial arts teacher Renato Tambellini not only went to speak out but took her 12 -year -old daughter, Luiza, to show her the importance of popular manifestation and to start participating. He said that he always talks about all the topics with Luiza and his brother.

“I explain to them that it is necessary to mobilize, claim rights. And right now it is essential, with us coming out of an attempt to blow. I believe that finally we can live a historic moment with the condemnation of scammers in the country. And we have to be on the street showing that we are supporting this to further consolidate our democracy.”

Tamikuã TXIH, from the Pataxó people, from the Jaraguá Indigenous Land, in the western region of São Paulo, argues that the struggle is of all peoples and that to change the situation it is necessary to take the streets and show the strength of the people.

“We need to say that we do not approve of the Armage PEC. We cannot accept the great atrocities that Congress or that the future parliamentarians will do it unpunished. So we say no impunity. This is an anguish and a shame for Brazil that has the congress articulating in the face of the people to end this end with amnesty.”
