696 parades were approved for the São Paulo street carnival in 2022. The information was disclosed by the city hall in a publication in the official diary of Thursday (30). This is the largest number of blocks ever confirmed in the capital of São Paulo. 
The municipal government informed that this is another stage in the planning for the event, but that its realization depends on authorizations from the Health agencies, according to the epidemiological scenario of the covid-19 pandemic.
Also according to the city hall, 64 parades were not authorized, of which 23 were for not returning the contact to send the requested information. The reasons for the other cancellations were not informed.
Carnival 2022 is scheduled for February 26th to March 1st, March 2nd being Ash Wednesday.
