Santos assumed the leadership of the Brazilian Championship this Sunday after beating América Mineiro 3-0 and thanks to Corinthians’ stumble against Palmeiras the day before on the third day of the league.
The ‘Peixe’, who started out of the group of the favorites for the title, showed their strength this Sunday and won at home thanks to a goal from Marcos Leonardo and two goals from Zanocelo. After the victory, he climbed to the top of the ranking, with 7 units.

The team led by Argentinean Fabián Bustos dominated the game from the start and Marcos Leonardo opened the scoring in the 28th minute.
The winning goal came in the 50th minute, when Zanocelo pushed the ball in after a joint play by Ângelo and Léo Baptistao. The auxiliary came to mark Baptistao offside, but the VAR ruled in favor of Santos.
Santos’ leadership was also possible after Corinthians’ defeat on Saturday in the derby against Palmeiras, who thrashed 3-0 with goals from Paraguayan Gustavo Gómez, Rony and Dudu.
Corinthians is third with 6 points, the same as Internacional that beat Fluminense 1-0 in the debut of former coach Mano Menezes as coach of the Porto Alegre club.

Juventude lost 0-1 to Cuiabá, who climbed to fourth place with 6 points, while Atlético Goianiense and Botafogo drew 1-1.
