Work continues on the part of the Santiago Metro to resume full service on Line 2 after the derailment of a train when it was performing parking maneuvers at dawn yesterday, causing the closure of the stations: Cemeteries, Einstein, Dorsal, Zapadores and North Vespucci.

Given this, the general manager of Metro, Philip Bravopointed out that “we are removing the train from the place and we are left to repair and replace the track and then carry out the corresponding tests.”

Bravo commented on CNNChile that the idea of the company is that the service be resumed before 6:00 p.m., the moment in which the rush hour begins and it is the one with the highest number of passengers.

In detailing the work being carried out, the Metro authority specified that “the maneuver to lift the train and return it to its position has been very complex.” In addition, he indicated that they are investigating the causes of the accident.

“We know that the stoppage of Metro stations, with the transport capacity we have, is difficult to supply on the surface, but even so, we make a positive balance. Today we had a fairly fluid process on the surface and we thank the passengers who have had the flexibility to test routes,” he concluded.
