Santiago Mayor's Office: increased tax collection by 98.22%

The Santiago Mayor’s Office de los Caballeros reported that during the first quarter of 2025 it achieved a record increase of 98.22% in the collection of municipal income, registering RD$315,712,432.45, a figure that almost doubles the resources obtained in the same period of the previous year.

According to the data offered by the council, the increase in collection is linked to the strengthening of collection mechanismsimprovements in administrative processes and greater control in financial management, which has allowed expanding the availability of resources for the execution of municipal works and services.

The municipal authorities indicated that these incomes have been integrated into the Municipal Investment Plan 2025, which includes infrastructure, urban sanitation and community equipment projects, many of them channeled through the Participatory Budget.

Among the works financed with municipal funds is the Yaque Accommodationa building of three levels destined for the reorganization of merchants, with an approximate investment of RD$470 million.

Also included is the resumption of construction of the Central Fire Station in The Goldenparalyzed for more than 15 years, with an investment of more than RD$66.5 million.

Assistance to communities

The Mayor’s Office indicated that during the evaluated period, various community worksamong them sports infrastructureparks, clubhouses, sidewalks and containers in different sectors of the municipality, as well as projects to improve public spaces.

In terms of urban services, the council reported sanitation operations that included the removal of disused tires and the intervention of structures erected irregularly, as part of the actions of territorial planning and citizen security.

The municipal authorities indicated that the positive behavior of the collection will allow sustaining the pace of investment in works and services, while highlighting the importance of tax compliance to strengthen the municipality’s finances.
