Santeños de Juan Díaz begin festivities on November 10 with a drum contest

As part of the celebrations of the 201st Anniversary of the First Cry of Independence of La Villa de Los Santos, the Union of Santeños Residents in Juan Diaz began this Wednesday the 9th the festivities with the Drum Contest in the parking lots in front of the Rommel Fernández stadium.

During these festivities, the folk carts that will be pulled by oxen along the parade route, on the José Domingo Díaz road, which will take place this Thursday the 10th, were decorated.

There will be 12 folkloric carts and 2,700 students from 20 school bands that will participate this Thursday in the civic-folkloric parade of Juan Díaz.

The standard-bearer for November 10 in Juan Díaz will be the mayor of the district of Panama, José Luis Fábrega.

Elías Castillo, former president of the National Assembly and founder of the Union of Resident Santeños in Juan Díaz, said that the parade is being resumed with great effort after two years on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic because it is a crowded event that now It is not only from the corregimiento, but from the entire capital city.

It should be noted that the civic parade that has been taking place for 26 years, contributes to reactivating the informal economy of the sector and is a crowded activity where polteradas, dirty devils and drums also participate from the Rommel Fernández Stadium to the Heliodoro Patiño Park.
