Santander will have a reinforcement of 1,000 police officers for the festive long weekend

The Police will deploy an operation to guarantee security, control mobility and prevent crimes in road corridors.

Santander Police will implement a security device within the framework of the festive long weekend, carrying out a deployment with more than 1,000 uniformed personnel to prevent traffic accidents, control vehicle flow and reduce crime risks on the main roads, municipalities and townships of the department.

Security controls will be concentrated especially on the road corridors and strategic points of San Gil and Charalá, where the annual fairs and festivals will take place. In addition, the municipalities of Aratoca, Sucre, Güepsa, Coromoro, San José Valley, Carcasí, Chipatá and Tona, with cultural and sports activities.

The Transit and Transportation Section will reinforce its presence with more than 100 uniformed personnel, who will carry out controls in corridors such as Cúcuta–Bucaramanga, Bucaramanga–Bogotá and Bucaramanga–El Playón, verifying documentation, speed limits, carrying out breathalyzer tests and attending to any eventuality during the exodus and return plan.

In the places where festivities will take place, prevention and control plans have been activated with specialized units for surveillance, intelligence, research, tourism, childhood and adolescence, as well as purple patrol and Community Policeresponsible for guaranteeing the safety of attendees and promoting an environment of healthy coexistence.

Colonel Néstor Rodrigo Arévalo Montenegro, commander of the Santander Police Departmentcalled on citizens: “We invite citizens to be co-responsible, tolerant, and to moderate the consumption of intoxicating beverages to avoid confrontations that generate fights and could end in tragedies.
