In order to avoid alterations in public order, the Governor of Santander announced reinforcement of security.
Given the announcement of a possible armed blockade starting December 14the governor of Santander, Juvenal Díaz Mateusassured that there are no public order problems in the department, but confirmed the immediate reinforcement of the Public Force in several subregions to avoid impacts on mobility and economic activities.
The departmental leader indicated that preventive actions will be concentrated especially in the Magdalena Half Santanderwith emphasis on Barrancabermeja and Puerto Wilchesas well as in the provinces of García Rovira, Guanentá and Soto Norte.
“We have to take some measures with the Public Force to prevent the activities of the people in Magdalena Medio from stopping us. We are going to reinforce García Rovira, Guanentá, Magdalena Medio and Soto Norte“said the governor.
Díaz Mateus explained that the authorities have intelligence information about the actions of criminal groupswhich makes it possible to organize a preventive security device to avoid disturbances to public order in the territory.

“We have the history of the criminal intelligence of these bandits and that helps us to organize the device and for the authorities to prevent them from stopping the department,” he said.
Faced with possible risks on the road that connects Santander with Bogotáthe governor was emphatic in pointing out that there is no specific threat, although he confirmed that security will also be reinforced in that road corridor.
“We are going to reinforce it. We do not have any threat on that road, thank God, and we hope it stays that way,” he said.
The departmental authorities reiterated the call to citizens to keep calmbe informed only by official channels and report any suspicious situation to the National Police and to Army.
The announcement of the blockade was verified by the authorities, after learning of a statement in which the ELN announces a 72 hour armed blockade in protest against “Donald Trump’s Neocolonial Plan.”
The document, which was verified by the authorities, reads that: “the Colombian popular forces protest against the threats of imperialist intervention in our country, as a new phase of Trump’s neocolonial plan, which seeks to sink its claws even further into the territories of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
