Santaella: Educational transformation begins in 1999 with Hugo Chávez

The Venezuelan educational system began to transform since 1999 with the arrival of Commander Chávez, by guaranteeing the people a free, quality and inclusive education, highlighted this Friday the Minister for Education, Yelitze Santaella, at the International Forum: Let’s talk about Quality educational.

During the forum that takes place in the auditorium of the Military Academy, in Caracas, Minister Yelitze Santaella argued that “the educational system began to transform since 1999, with the arrival of Commander Chávez.”

“At that moment the transformations towards a more inclusive and quality system really begin. Since the birth of the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela, in which all human rights are reflected, where education becomes a fundamental element, ”he said.

Since then, Santaella added, “Venezuelans have walked in a liberating project, that Homeland that Simón Bolívar dreamed of,” and that after 200 years we continue to work with the ideas of Hugo Chávez and the actions of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

“Today Venezuela is honored to be part of this laboratory thanks to the trust of President Maduro in Venezuelan teachers,” he added.

Likewise, Minister Santaella offered her welcome and thanks to the Cuban brothers, who “with sacrifice and contributions” have contributed to this transformative process that Venezuela has been developing.

“We welcome and thank the Cuban brothers for their sacrifice and contribution to the transforming process,” he added.

For Santaella, this is a great debate for educational quality, so I greet all the directors of the different territories of this country who are present, “thank you dear state spokespersons who honor us with your presence.”

Venezuela guarantees free and quality education

By 2015 Venezuela had met all the Millennium Development Goals, specifically in education, by guaranteeing free, quality and inclusive education, highlighted the ambassador and Permanent Representative of Venezuela to UNESCO, rodulfo perezduring the International Forum: Let’s talk about Educational Quality.

“In 2015, Venezuela signed the Millennium Development protocols, that year it had 16 years of meeting its goals in education, free of illiteracy,” Pérez said through a videoconference.

The Venezuelan Ambassador stressed that the country was “in a process in which the right to education was guaranteed, it was municipalized and began a process of communalization. The development objectives were met and exceeded”.

He stressed that Venezuela guarantees free and quality, and allows gender equality.

At the beginning of his speech, the Outstanding Ambassador to UNESCO sent greetings of solidarity to all those present and expressed his love for Venezuela.

Educational quality

The International Forum “Let’s talk about Educational Quality” places the school as the epicenter of action and social and territorial development.

The national government maintains educational policies that have given greater importance to the school, highlighting school autonomy and participation as the center of an educational policy that aims to improve the results of the provision of educational services, expressed in terms of free, access, efficiency and quality.

In this sense, the Venezuelan State through its public policies manifests as an objective to achieve social justice based on social inclusion, to enjoy rights, reducing inequities and prioritizing social needs.
