Santa Marta inaugurates the first pet cemetery in the country: this you should know

An initiative that seeks to offer a dignified and loving farewell to “four-legged friends.” We tell you what it is about!

Pets, or as many affectionately call them, “best friends” They have become the center of attention and love within thousands of Colombian families.

In many homes they are no longer simple petsbut inseparable members that accompany every moment of daily life. However, when the inevitable moment of farewell arrives, there is not always a decent place where their remains can rest.

Faced with this reality, a new initiative arises in the Caribbean region to change the way families deal with the loss of their furry companions.

It is about the Pet Memorial Garden, the first cemetery intended exclusively for animals in the city, a space created with the purpose of offering them a respectful and loving farewell.

The project was born from the desire to transform grief and provide a serene environment to honor the memory of those who left their mark on the hearts of their owners.. “Pets are also loved ones,” is the phrase that summarizes the spirit of this proposal, which seeks to dignify a moment that, although painful, can be lived with peace and gratitude.

The Memorial Garden has green areas, trails and memorial areas where families can pay tribute to their pets, just as it is done with any human being.

The objective is to offer a quiet space where each family can say goodbye to their partner with respect, avoiding the improvised burials that used to take place in patios, parks or, in many cases, in unsuitable conditions.

What does the funeral service include?

Until now, most Samarians and Colombians faced this moment without a formal alternative: some buried their animals in the home garden, others chose to cremate them or, unfortunately, they did not know where to take their remains. With this proposal, that reality begins to change.

Pet funeral services includes burial, use of the lot for three years, a memorial plaque with the name of the animal and body collection, all for an approximate monthly value of 20,000 pesos.

With this initiative, Santa Marta becomes a pioneer in the country, promoting a trend that It could spread to other corners of Colombia and the world.
