Santa Fe celebrated its anniversary and announced celebrations for its 450 years

The city of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz, founded by Juan de Garay on November 15, 1573, celebrated its anniversary with various social and cultural activities that take place along the Costanera Oesteand began a series of celebrations towards its 450th anniversary, including the 170th anniversary of the National Constitution.

The capital of the province of Santa Fe, whose original location was the area of ​​the town of Cayastá, accredits as a major historical milestone the approval of the Magna Carta, on May 1, 1853, when representatives of thirteen provinces drew up the bases with the intention to achieve national unity.

For geographical reasons and the hostility of aboriginal peoples, the city was moved to the banks of the Salado River in a process that lasted between April 1649 and the same month of 1660, when its authorities established themselves on the current site.

The local municipality, headed by the socialist Emilio Jatón, programmed a series of activities that serve to commemorate today and at the same time the beginning of the path towards 450 years, with special attention to the anniversary of the National Constitution and the 40 years since the recovery of democracy.

The so-called City of Garay, which in addition to being the cradle of the Constitution was the seat of pacts, treaties, conventions and reforms -including the one of 1994 together with the neighboring city of Paraná-, currently has about 405 thousand inhabitants.

Mayor Jatón, who heads the Working Group that brings together representatives of the main local institutions in the programming of the festivities, announced that the city will go towards its 450th anniversary with a “very plural agenda, which covers the past, present and the future”.

In the next twelve months there will be celebrations for the 170 years of the Constitution, the 150 years of the Municipal Council and of the Union and Benevolence SocietyY the 100 years of the Industrial Union and the Balearic Center, among others.

During the day, the traditional west waterfront, that begins at the Hanging Bridge and extends along the coast of the Setúbal lagoon up to the statue of José Gervasio de Artigas, in the Guadalupe neighborhood, dressed for a party with activities for children and fairs for entrepreneurs and gastronomy with the idea that it be “a party for everyone”.

“I want it to be clear that this is a party for everyone, for everyone and built among everyone, without distinctions or breaks. This is a party for Santa Fe,” said Jatón.

musical shows will begin at 6:00 p.m. by the bands from Santa Fe “Josela” and “Delfino Flow & the Puro Flow Band” and then the group Los Palmeras will perform with special guests such as Soledad, Axel, La Delio Valdez, Karina la Princesita and Jorge Rojas.

Activities all week

The activities for the 449th anniversary will continue throughout the week in different parts of the city and as a highlight it was announced the reopening of the Patio Catedral, on Friday from 18.

The cast of the Municipal Puppet Theater will be presented, with his work “The cat and the mice”, then he will offer a recital the duo made up of Luisina Vanoni and Mauricio Guastavinowith closure by the Traveling Fanfare.

That same day, but at 8:00 p.m., the “Salón Litoral 2022” is inaugurated, in the Municipal Museum of Visual Arts “Sor Josefa Díaz y Clucellas”, the official room of visual arts that offers regional and national contemporary artistic practices.

Facing the long weekend also foresees a series of proposals that combine the history of the city and tourism, among them tours in the Jesuit Block, which includes the Immaculate College, where Jorge Bergoglio (now Pope Francis) lived and taught between 1964 and 1965.

“The passage of Pope Francis in the city of Santa Fe”, As announced, it will open this week at its usual hours: from Wednesday to Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with Guided visits Saturday at 9:30, 11, 16:30 and 18; and on Sunday, at special times, at 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

On Monday, November 22, on the occasion of the 236th anniversary of the birth of Brigadier Estanislao Lópezthe main leader of the province, there will be a special tour in his honor, starting at 5:00 p.m., starting at Plaza 25 de Mayo, located in front of the Government House.
