Santa Cruz registers a 66% extreme risk of occurrence of forest fires and has 21 active points

At the beginning of its anniversary month, Santa Cruz is hit by forest fires. The department registers a 66% extreme risk of fire occurrence and is getting closer to the critical time.

According to the report by Yovenka Rosado, director of Natural Resources of the Government, 15 municipalities are being affected by 21 active forest fires, distributed in: Concepción (2), San Ignacio de Velasco (1), Camiri (1), Gutiérrez (1), La Guardia (1), El Torno (3), Puerto Suárez (2), San Antonio de Lomerío (1 ), Mairana (1), Samaipata (1), San José de Chiquitos (2), Roboré (1), Porongo (1), Santa Rosa del Sara (1) and Urubichá (2).

Also, this Friday, September 2, the early warning system detected 103 sources of burning in the early hours of the morningwhile so far this month there are 407 sources of burning and the accumulated of this management is 18,147 sources of burning.

The municipalities that are registering the highest concentration of sources of burning are: San José de Chiquitos, Puerto Suárez, Ascensión de Guarayos, El Puente, San Ignacio de Velasco and San Miguel.

Likewise, Rosado emphasized that 66% of the department registers extreme risk of occurrence of forest fires and four municipalities continue to be declared in disaster. These are San Matías, San Rafael, Gutiérrez and the Charagua Indigenous Autonomy.

“The Government with all the logistics, together with the forest firefighters and the rescue unit, is in a state of readiness so that, at the request of the municipalities, they can provide an immediate and timely response to the forest fires,” added Rosado.
