From the National Forest Fire Monitoring Center, they reported that until this Monday 330 administrative processes for illegal burning and 94 criminal processes for forest fires have been activated. This was confirmed by the same director of the Authority for Supervision and Social Control of Forests and Land (ABT), Ramiro Vidaurre.
“There are 330 administrative sanctioning processes for illegal burning throughout the country, of which 182 correspond to private properties and 148 to communities,” Vidaurre explained.
Of these administrative processes, 183 are in Santa Cruz, 54 in Beni and 93 in the rest of the country. As for the 94 open criminal proceedings, they are for the crimes of arson, qualified damage, attack on the environment and destruction and deterioration of the country’s natural heritage.
Of the 94, 54 correspond to complaints against identified people and 40 against alleged perpetrators. And according to the ABT, 78 criminal proceedings correspond to the department of Santa Cruz and 16 to the department of Beni.
Among the criminal proceedings is the case of three people who were found in flagrante delicto carrying out illegal burning in the Bajo Paraguá reserve, in the Santa Cruz municipality of San Ignacio de Velasco.
“Last Friday the ABT mobilized its operational units to this area, where burning and clearing occurred. As a result of the intervention, it was achieved arrest six people, of whom three were detained in flagrante delicto, that is, carrying out clearing and burning activities in the area“explained the authority.
The three people are under preventive detention for 180 days in the Palmasola Prison. At the moment, four people are reported with a conviction.
