This Monday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, appointed Sandra Oblitas as the new Minister for University Education, after the death of Tibisay Lucena last April 12.
The announcement was made on the broadcast of his program Ripe +, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.
During the day, Oblitas – who held the position of rector of the Bolivarian University and former vice president of the National Electoral Council – thanked the head of state for his confidence and asserted that work will be done to build a revolution based on education.
“It is a very big commitment, which I assume, thanking you for the trust you give me, which I add to the country, to the revolution, to university education,” Oblitas said during the activity.
“University education is a fundamental pillar and touches, from university education, the training of that youth of that town that is trained to assume different scenarios for which it is formed, it is a commitment that I assume responsibly,” he added.
On the other hand, President Maduro urged the authorities to prepare and guarantee education for young people who seek to train in careers that are aligned with the development of the country.
“The great educational revolution is to have the development needs of the country aligned, the development plan with the training of future professionals, if the priorities are economic development, the 18 motors, the construction of houses, living by living, the social rights of the people, social security, economic and social development, if that is the need, that is where we must place university degrees”, he pointed out.
