The statements were given after photographs in which Cuevas appears next to the alleged leader of “La Chokiza”, a criminal group dedicated to extortion and the collection of floor in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. The controversy increased after the arrest of “El Choko” on September 10 in Plaza Las Américas, in Ecatepec, and its subsequent transfer to the maximum security prison of El Altiplano.
At a press conference, the former mayor clarified that she met Gilmare Mendoza in a concert held in Tlatelolco in March of that year and that her relationship was brief, because they were seen only on about ten occasions, as she said she never had knowledge of the illegal activities of the now linked to the arrested process.
“My relationship with him (the Choko) was ephemeral, for me it was something ephemeral, it was another relationship, it was nothing important. He sought to be media, he sought to be close to Sandra Cuevas,” he said at a press conference since his art gallery in the Anzures neighborhood.
Sandra Cuevas considered that she held a romantic relationship with “El Choko” because I had the impression that he was a person who had no conflicts with the law, also because he showed closeness with famous and political people, without offering more details.
“I did not know his organizations or movements in the State of Mexico, I was not interested in knowing it. I did not give me time to meet him because I saw him only sometimes,” he said.
They link to “El Choko” process
A federal judge based in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico, linked Alejandro Gimare Mendoza, “El Chako”, for his alleged responsibility in the crime of organized crime for kidnapping purposes.
The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) explained that the process linking obtained after the Federal Public Ministry contributed test data based on anonymous testimonies that referred to the criminal activities to which the criminal organization “La Chokiza” was dedicated, which Alejandro Gilmare leads.
Although the defense of “El Choko” tried to request the non -linking to the process, the judge ordered the preventive detention, which must be fulfilled in the Altiplano prison and gave five months for complementary investigation.
