The former member of the Federal Police Mario “Churrasco” Sandoval was sentenced this Wednesday to 15 years in prison for having been found guilty of “illegitimate prohibition of freedom, aggravated by his status as a public official” in the trial against humanity that was brought against him. follows the kidnapping and disappearance of the architecture student and militant of the Peronist University Youth (JUP), Hernán Abriata, during the last civic-military dictatorship.

“In accordance with the provisions, the Court resolves to declare that the facts that are the object of this process constitute crimes against humanity. It resolves to sentence Mario Alfredo Sandoval to 15 years in prison and absolute disqualification for being considered the perpetrator criminally responsible for the crimes of illegitimate prohibition of freedom, aggravated by his status as a public official and by the imposition of torments to the detriment of a politically persecuted man”, stated Federal Court Number 5 when reading the verdict.
