Sánchez Cárdenas: «The Government has not stopped its electoral campaign»

Sánchez Cárdenas: "Gobierno no ha parado su campaña electoral"

Santo Domingo – The former Minister of Health, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, affirmed that the current government has not abandoned the electoral campaign, referring to the fact that it should pay more attention to health needs and not emphasize politics, as he assured that it happens today.

The also leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) said on the program Despierta con CDN that: «We have to pay attention and stop the electoral campaign, because this government has not stopped its electoral campaign«.

Sánchez complained about the mismanagement that the current government is giving to the 911 National Emergency System, stating that «911 is created and now what we are seeing is practically that the 911 System is in emergency«.

He added that “Do you think that when a Z announcer died because the 911 ambulance did not arrive, it was because there was efficiency? then there is a deterioration of management«.

Sánchez Cárdenas also said that the government of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) focuses on looking for culprits «I have always said that in this it is not to look for blame, and in this government everything is to blame, they have nothing to do with it, you speak of corruption but the old, of the new nothing«.

In addition, he added that “the scandals are there, (…) the PLD government created 56 hospitals where the majority of care is provided, they were delivered equipped and well set up, the Blood Center, and look at the Blood Center as it is, which should have started in October 2020 and that is a disaster, a scandal that is not talked about«.

He assured that we must find a way to make the operation of public hospitals more efficient.

Likewise, he stated that one of the problems to be solved in the public management of hospitals has to do with computerization and the link between management and hospitals.

«A hospital has a director, a deputy director, a department head, it has a whole staff established to manage the provision“said the former Minister of Health.

The big problem is that we usually want to look for a superstructure, protection over certain institutions, when what we have to look for is management of public hospitals. With this we can achieve the best functioning of the provision of service, and control and monitoring, that is the fundamental thing.

He explained that it should be known what a nurse does in each of these health centers, as well as what each doctor or a laboratory does, taking that information to the system. He assured that by achieving this, patronages will be unnecessary since a patronage worked a lot to raise funds for hospitals.

Medication Cost

He also referred to the High Cost Medicines and Medical Assistance Program, assuring that the plan has fallen and the supplies of the hospitals have been denounced by the Medical College itself.

He stated that currently one of the great headaches is that the cost of medicines has multiplied by more than 50% or 40%.

You go to the hospital and what they tell you is a prescription for you to go to the pharmacy to buy what you need for care.
