San Lorenzo de Almagro fell this Monday to Defense and Justice 3-4 on the third day of the Argentine Soccer League Cup and was penultimate in Zone A with one point after starring in a match full of goals.
The azulgrana team, which had drawn 0-0 against Banfield in their debut and lost 1-0 to Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata the previous day, fell to the runner-up of last tournament, who scored the first goal of the match in the 8th minute thanks to Walter Bou. In Zone B, the newly promoted Tiger got into qualifying zone beat him 0-2 to the other team that came up from the Second Division: Central Barracks. Ijiel Protti and Pablo Magnin, one in the first half and the other in the second, scored the goals. After his third consecutive loss, fellow football announcer Rodolfo De Paoli resigned from his position as team coach. Tigre reached five points and was third, behind Estudiantes de La Plata (9) and Boca Juniors (7).
What’s more, Aldosivi beat Godoy Cruz 0-2 in a duel between two teams fighting to stay in the top flight with goals from Uruguayan Martín Cauteruccio and Matías Pisano. The third day will end on Tuesday with the following matches: Patronato-Talleres, Unión-Atlético Tucumán, Racing Club-Argentinos Juniors and Central Córdoba-Colón.
