Miguel Ángel Russo was announced this Thursday as the new coach of San Lorenzo de Almagro, as reported by the Argentine institution through its social networks.
“Welcome, Miguel! Miguel Ángel Russo signed, together with president Marcelo Moretti, his contract until December 2025 and is the new coach of San Lorenzo. Let’s go!” wrote the club through its profile on the social network accompanied by an image of the coach next to the president and a Barça shirt.
The announcement comes shortly after Leandro Romagnoli resigned as coach of the ‘Ciclón’ after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Godoy Cruz. Russo will debut on Sunday at home against Barracas Central.
The 68-year-old coach arrives after a recent stint at Central Rosarya club with which he was crowned champion of the League Cup in 2023. Russo thus begins his second stage on the San Lorenzo bench, after a short stint in the 2008-2009 season, in which he recorded 17 wins, five draws and 14 defeats, in a total of 36 games.
