Samuel García submits to the local Congress a draft of the Political Constitution for its approval in the second round

Monterey, NL. Governor of Nuevo Leon Samuel Garcia Sepulvedadelivered to the president of the State Congress, Ivonne Álvarez García, deputy of the PRI, the new Political Constitution of the state, with the observations made by an accompanying group, to be discussed by the legislative power in the second round, and include the Metropolitan Coordination Law as a secondary law, before the 2023 Budget.

The president explained that after the document was approved in the first round, in March, a support group made up of 58 people was appointed, representing the three branches of government, academics, civil society, and mayors.

The representative of 16 metropolitan municipalities was the mayor of Guadalupe, Cristina Díaz, who led the work to create the Metropolitan Coordination Lawwhich will be complementary to the state Political Constitution.

“Mission accomplished, the objectives were met, now comes the important thing because this document introduces new rights that were not contemplated in the first round”, including care for the elderly, water care, non-corruption, care for the areas protected natural areas, the rights of protection of women against gender violence and political violence, among other points, said García Sepúlveda.

“Today we are going to Congress asking for an effort to accept the document as soon as possible, because the 2023 Budget has to be analyzed. We need to have the regulatory law of the Political Constitution ready beforehand, which can happen in October to December to start with budget”.

“I have expressed it to the deputies, I see the opportunity for Nuevo León to set the example in legal matters, this will be the best state Political Constitution.”

It is worth mentioning that the monitoring committee is coordinated by the doctor in Constitutional Law, Pedro Torres Estrada and is also made up of Arturo Salinas Garza, president of the Superior Court of Justice of the state; Cristina Díaz, mayor of Guadalupe; Michael Núñez Torres, from the Attorney General’s Office, as well as academics from the main universities.

For her part, PRI deputy Ivonne Álvarez, president of the local Congress, welcomed the governor and the support group and assured that the legislature is interested in building a comprehensive reform, adding this complement to the original proposal of the Constitution. Policy, which will be sent to the Constitutional Points Commission for its respective analysis.
