Samuel Garcia assures that Tesla's plant is still standing: "Everything is recorded"

“We have everything in order, the purchase of the land is registered with the federal Ministry of Economy, the incentive project is registered in Nuevo León. I truly believe that it is an electoral issue that ends in November,” said the state leader, recalling that Musk said he was only putting the matter on hold to see who won the Presidency of the United States.

The local leader mentioned that he will not interfere in the electoral process of said North American country and asked the inhabitants of Nuevo Leon to have faith, because he pointed out that the construction will happen, since all the “paperwork” is ready for when the Tesla businessman says ‘let’s go ahead’.

“Everything is signed. What is missing is for the company to start construction, which already has money and a flow of money from them (…) I really have faith that it will happen; it is private money, we have to wait for the company to make a decision and I hope that it will go ahead very soon,” he said.

This is contrary to what was stated by Secretary of State Raquel Buenrostro, who said that there is no official record of Tesla’s investment intention in the country and asserted that it was only a media announcement.

“We have no records of Tesla’s investment, that is the only official thing. What is official is what is registered and there is no record. They have never registered investments. They made announcements in the media, but they have not made any official, institutional process, in accordance with the Foreign Investment Law in Mexico,” he said.
